God, help us

I hope the new president will give more attention to education and access to current information (read: the Internet) so that the next electorates will vote according to sensible, practical reasons... and not because the leading TV network made sure to highlight (in yellow) it's favorite candidate, with additional praises on the side. I hope people will vote the next time because they did their research, and because they are looking for a person who will bring the country forward, and not give precedence over putting a former president into jail. My soul can certainly stand a candidate who, despite his crooked ways in dealing with money, manages to offset it with tangible results. But I can't, for the life of me, take that a good yet incapable and diffident person will hold in his hands the country for six years.

He may be good, but he is not unblemished. He may be good, but his lack of sternness will make him vulnerable to the demons that he will be rubbing elbows with. He may be good, but he has one hell of a wrecked sister whose melodramatic life has to be center of the universe. Even worse is that Joseph Ejercito, the infamous impeached president, is on the top second spot on the presidential elections. Most of the people I know did not vote for him simply because the first time he sat on that throne was a mistake. But what about the others? God forbid our family gets any poorer, but the middle and upper classes will never feel in big magnitudes the consequences of a badly chosen government. Only the poor will suffer, and yet they chose the very  same people who put them lower where they were before.
