This is not to name by brand each piece of clothing or accessory I have on this picture. Just to remind me of things I have and can wear again because they work. =) Thank you, Nadine, for the photo.
I notice I have a lot of blacks and grays in my wardrobe, also antique-finish costume jewelry. The younger me would have complained and gave those clothes away, but damnit'sgonnahurtwhenIsaythis but I am getting older and have begun to be drawn to neutrals and basic clothing with just a touch of fun.
As I shared to Khai, I tend to look shabby and casual whichever clothes I wear, wherever place I go to. I can't point which aspect of me gives away that I am not prissy; maybe the baby hair, the sallow skin or the posture, but I have embraced it. There's this proper balance somehow between presentable and comfortable - something I thought I could never put together because 'comfortable' always meant shirt and jeans and flip-flops to me.
This outfit I tried to make work for me within thirty minutes. I have a mental list of my trusty clothes, and these aren't in them. But they work, yes? Say yes. Yes. Thank you. I think that given a short amount of time to prepare, and the clothes I have always worn that everyone has gotten tired of, my creativity was challenged and I loved how it turned out (except for the out-of-place shoes - would have been nice in gold). This gray skirt is actually a huge jersey caftan I could never wear as a dress but voila, I can successfully wear as a skirt. I like to think I'm more dignified in this than in my other trendier clothes. 'Di ba? Sabi kasi nila mas mukha kang cheap kung trendy ang damit mo. It's not always the case for clothes and people - hellew, please check Kris Aquino's Chanel pearl strands in that washing machine billboard along EDSA.
I like the direction I'm going - it's the Less is More route. I remember back in high school I used to wear plastic jewelry like it was a necessity running out of stock. For some reason, I chucked them and realized the glitz was actually tacky (and redundant) and I added that to My List of Things I Regret Doing and If I Could Turn Back Time I Would Definitely Correct this Embarrassing Mistake.
