I have mentioned in an earlier post, I am in the process of moving back here in Blogger after long episodes of love-hate and a seemingly happy relationship with LiveJournal. Unless you already are a loyal follower of other blogs and you are bored as hell to "blog-hop", there isn't really an easier way to remember which blogs you like and to know which ones you have yet to see. Blogger is not exactly your social networking site you use to connect. But what I LOVE about it is that it's arms are open: it supports JavaScript, CSS, thousands of widgets, and best of all, it's as flexible as a licorice twist.
That's why revisiting my Blogger opened other defunct subscriptions and accounts as well. I go to BlogSkins.com to post the "skins" (a.k.a Layouts, themes, etc) I made and of course, enjoy the nicer "skins" from others. They are so talented it's easy to hate and love them at the same time. Here's a view:
I have a stereotype when it comes to themes: I like monochrome grays, with shots of color. Georgia font for the numbers (date and time) and any other font for the rest of the text as long as they're readable. This example doesn't meet that last preference, but this theme j'adore. I most especially like the sidebar which collapses to reveal new content. I like the cleanliness of it all.
Unfortunately, when I was ready to install the code here, I ran out of energy trying to edit the code (and by edit I mean add my personal shiz: links, tagboard, profile etc). It's not exactly user-friendly, mind you. You have to know how to peel off the rest of the unnecessary code used for show, to be able to put your content and whatnot to the rest. I do know how to find my way around these things, it's just that they can be tedious and no amount of prettifying the blog can motivate you to edit EVERY time you want to. So I'll stick with what you're seeing right now and I can say it's not so bad after all.
